MuniRem® › What it treats

IMX / NTO

What IMX / NTO is, and how we evaluate it with MuniRem®.

What it is

IMX explosives are newer insensitive munition fills. They are built around NTO (nitrotriazolone) and DNAN (dinitroanisole) and are designed to resist accidental detonation. NTO dissolves easily in water and can make wastewater acidic.

How MuniRem® treats it

IMX and NTO are evaluated case by case with a treatability study. We confirm treatment on your material before any claims are made.

  1. Tell us the material, amount and where it is.
  2. A sample is bench-tested in a treatability study.
  3. An EPA-certified laboratory analyzes the results.
  4. Full-scale work is planned only if the results support it.
This material is evaluated case by case with a treatability study before any full-scale work.

What it becomes

Determined by treatability study.

Where it's found
