MuniRem® › What it treats
HME, e.g. TATP
What HME, e.g. TATP is, and how we evaluate it with MuniRem®.
What it is
HME means homemade explosives. TATP (triacetone triperoxide) is an organic peroxide explosive made from common chemicals. It is extremely sensitive to heat, shock and friction, and is often found in improvised devices or illegal labs.
How MuniRem® treats it
MuniRem lists TATP and organic peroxides among the energetics it treats. Homemade explosives vary widely, so each one is evaluated case by case with a treatability study.
- Tell us the material, amount and where it is.
- A sample is bench-tested in a treatability study.
- An EPA-certified laboratory analyzes the results.
- Full-scale work is planned only if the results support it.
This material is evaluated case by case with a treatability study before any full-scale work.
What it becomes
Determined by treatability study.
Where it's found
Law-enforcement recoveries and improvised-device response.
