MuniRem® › What it treats

ANAL / ANFO / ANSol

What ANAL / ANFO / ANSol is, and how we evaluate it with MuniRem®.

What it is

These are ammonium nitrate (AN) explosives: ANAL is AN with aluminum, ANFO is AN with fuel oil, and ANSol is an AN solution. They are the most common commercial blasting explosives, used in mining and quarrying. Spilled or leftover product is a fire and explosion hazard and adds nitrate to water.

How MuniRem® treats it

MuniRem lists ammonium nitrate and AN among materials it treats, and its company profile describes cleaning ammonium nitrate-based emulsions. MuniRem materials give no data specific to ANAL, ANFO or ANSol, so expect a treatability check.

  1. Tell us the material, amount and where it is.
  2. A sample is bench-tested in a treatability study.
  3. An EPA-certified laboratory analyzes the results.
  4. Full-scale work is planned only if the results support it.
This material is evaluated case by case with a treatability study before any full-scale work.

What it becomes

Determined by treatability study.

Where it's found

Mines, quarries, blasting contractors and explosives makers.
